I've really appreciated being able to sell Acholi Beads at these shows. Although I don't make them myself, they are still handmade; by an incredibly talented group of women in Uganda.
I wanted to share two things with everybody. First, check out this video about the women who make the beads.
Second, I've had the opportunity to use some of the beads from broken or otherwise unsellable necklaces to make a few custom pieces for Acholi Beads. Since the beads themselves are made from recycled paper, these pieces are recycled at least twice over. The piece below even features a flower made from fused recycled grocery bags.
